#15: Brisbane - end of vanlife

After 16 days in the van, Brisbane was the last stop on our roadtrip. Our last kilometers on the road were some of the busiest, as traffic between Gold Coast and Brisbane can get pretty mad during peak hours. But, we made it in time and without any scratches on the vehicle. Back to backpacker life!

Luckily, right next to the Travellers Autobarn Station, a bus was heading towards the center. We spent some time exploring the third biggest city in Australia. Brisbane is a modern and comfortable city to stay in. There are many free services (some bus connections, ferry connections, the botanical garden and grill areas are free to use), plenty of cafes and it is easy to get around. Our highlights included the Botanical Gardens and the walk over the Story Bridge with views over the skyline.

Unfortunately, the weather is quite rainy and grey during our stay, so we don’t get to see Brisbane from its best side (‘City of the Sun’ they say - we can’t confirm, haha). More floodings are expected to threaten the state of Queensland. We decided to escape from the high amount of water and to travel to a new destination: Bali! We had to get ourselves tested for COVID-19 with a PCR and could then enter Indonesia.

We spent 4 beautiful weeks in Australia exploring the east coast. We had complete freedom with the van and enjoyed our time in nature. Thank you, Australia!
